Cyber safety and other dangers of the digital realm were tackled at an interactive, informative and instructive cyber safety forum on Friday the 29th of November 2013. 2MFM was delighted to join the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Communications, Paul Fletcher MP, Local Federal Member for Hughes, Craig Kelly; Executive Manager, ACMA’s Digital Economy Division, Andree Wright in the launch of new materials to help parents, teachers and their kids with the use of smart phones.
Greg Gebhart a specialised cyber smart trainer spoke about the ways in which kids can stay safe online together with issues of security, living in the social media space and online privacy, along with providing practical advice such as how to set up secure social media accounts.
Furthermore, the forum which was facilitated by Paul Fletcher and contributed by a number of parents, demonstrated the contemporary and underlying issues of cyber safety through their own personal experiences with their children. Thus, they spoke about why parents should be more educated and involved in order for cyber safety to be effective.
Overall, it was a pleasure to have been a part of this forum that took account of valuable advice on avoiding the pitfalls of computer fraud and some important tips on how to reduce online risks for parents, teachers and students.
