2MFM Welcomes Margaret Cassidy: A Media Expert and Advocate for Cultural Diversity in Radio Programming.

On Wednesday, June 7th, 2023, we had the pleasure of hosting Margaret Cassidy at the 2MFM office. Margaret serves as a CBF Board director and Non-Executive Director (GAICD) as well as a Lecturer in Media Innovation at the University of Sydney. She has an extensive background in the media industry spanning 30 years, including positions at the ABC, such as Deputy Director of the Technology Division and Head of the ABC’s national radio networks. Her expertise in editorial, policy, strategy, and digital media is very enlightening.

During the 2023 NEMBC Media conference, our team had the opportunity to meet Margaret and extended an invitation for her to visit 2MFM for further discussions. We were particularly interested in exploring topics surrounding the changing landscape of media, especially in relation to social media. We sought Margaret’s insights and engaged in meaningful conversations about the work of 2MFM. Additionally, we were keen to understand her perspectives on the community’s needs and how radio programming can cater to those needs effectively.

Margaret emphasized the importance of embracing and appreciating the cultural diversity of contemporary Australia. She highlighted how radio programming can play a crucial role in fostering the sharing and support of various cultures, languages, and community information. Her feedback was invaluable to us, and we express our gratitude to Margaret for taking the time to provide us with such thoughtful insights.

Finally, we were delighted to hear Margaret’s positive remarks about 2MFM, describing it as a warm and welcoming radio station. We eagerly anticipate future opportunities to reconnect with her, as we continue to learn and gain further knowledge from her expertise.
