2MFM Welcomes Salamah Students

On Wednesday the 7th of June 2023, some very keen years 5 and 6 students from Salamah College’s Media Committee Club embarked on an excursion to the 2MFM radio station. Staff members from 2MFM warmly greeted the excited students, as they were introduced to the hard-working and dedicated employees and volunteers.

Students enjoyed an immersive and interactive tour of the 2MFM grounds, including recording and live studios. With each space, students were able to witness the skills and equipment required for the production process first-hand, and at times, were given the opportunity to trial this process themselves. Students learned many new skills and facts related to media and community radio, and thus have a newfound appreciation for radio as an essential tool in disseminating crucial information in a range of different languages, forms, and regarding different topics. Through their unabashed and insightful questions, students were able to develop a deeper understanding of 2MFM’s behind-the-scenes operations.

At the end of their tour, students expressed their excitement to support 2MFM, as listeners and future volunteers, supporting the growth of youth-led projects and programs, and even offering their feedback on some programs. The visit was of mutual benefit to both 2MFM staff and students, with a growing optimism for the role of young minds and perspectives in the production of media content and projects.
